What method do our professors use?

Our classes are designed to use a communicative approach, where 85-90% of the class work is organized to focus on oral expression. Written expression, grammar, and vocabulary are also integral parts of each class. We work through grammatical concepts using real-life situations, giving both a personal and professional context to the lessons.

How many hours do I need to speak Catalàn?

The guidelines for learning Catalàn are the same as those for Spanish. A person who already has a good level of Spanish, however, can learn Catalàn in 1-3 years.

Where can I take clases?

Classes are held at the most convenient location for the student: at your office, at your home, at our offices in the center of Barcelona, or in any café, restaurant, etc.

Do I have to buy a textbook?

It is not necessary to purchase a textbook. The classes are designed to use a selection of appropriate materials. These materials are taken from Spanish as a foreign language resources, exercises created by the professors, news, websites, TV shows, movies, short films, and more. In the first interview, the professor will explain how to organize all the materials needed for class. In the case that a student wishes to purchase a book, the professor will recommend the book best suited to his/her needs.

What is the maximum and minimum number of students for group classes?

Group classes can have between 3-6 people.

How long does it take to learn Spanish?

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) recommends a minimum of 60 cumulative hours of class instruction per level (A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-C2) – but every student is different. Various factors can influence a students’ language learning: languages already spoken, age, hours spent studying outside of class, professional exposure, etc. During the first meeting with the professor, each students’ level and personal situation will be evaluated.

How many hours do I need to study outside of class?

The amount of time dedicated to self-study depends on each student, according to personal circumstances. On average, however, one should plan for 30-45 minutes of study outside of class for each hour spent in class.

When can I start?

The first step is to set up an individual interview with a professor to evaluate your current level, needs and goals, time availability, and to find a date for your first class. We always aim to begin classes as soon as possible.
